Scratching with a DJ controller can be a bit different than scratching with traditional DJ equipment, but with a little practice, you can get the hang of it. Here's how to scratch with a DJ controller:
Choose a scratching software: Choose a DJ software that has built-in scratching capabilities, such as Serato DJ, Traktor Pro, or Virtual DJ.
Connect the controller: Connect the DJ controller to your computer and launch the DJ software. Make sure that the software recognizes the controller and that all of the buttons and knobs are functioning correctly.
Load a track: Load a track into the DJ software, and start playing the track.
Find the jog wheel: Look for the jog wheel on your DJ controller. This is the circular knob that you will use to scratch.
Start scratching: To start scratching, spin the jog wheel back and forth while the track is playing. You can also try manipulating the jog wheel with different hand movements, such as tapping or twisting, to create different scratching sounds.
Use the pitch control: Use the pitch control on the DJ controller to adjust the speed of the track while you are scratching. This will allow you to match the tempo of the scratching to the tempo of the track.
Experiment: Experiment with different scratching techniques and styles to find the ones that work best for you. Try using the crossfader to blend between two tracks while you are scratching, or use the effects controls to add different effects to your scratching sounds.
Note: Scratching with a DJ controller takes time and practice, so be patient and keep experimenting. Try to listen to other DJs and learn from their scratching styles, and don't be afraid to ask for advice from more experienced DJs. Have fun!
